Canon Character Information
Appearance: He's a bit on the short side for a man, standing at 5'8 1/2" (that's 1.74m for you non-Americans), dark hair and eyes, olive-toned skin. He has no visible scars.
History He was born shortly before the Battle of Endor, during which his mother flew an X-wing for the Rebel Alliance and his father was a military commando. After the defeat of the Empire, his parents settled on the jungle moon of Yavin 4, where they built a ranch. This is where Poe grew up, hearing the stories of the Galactic Civil War. His mother taught him to fly her A-wing fighter at the age of six, and he's been flying star ships ever since. His mother died when he was eight years old, and it has been just him and his father since.

When he grew up, he joined the New Republic navy as a pilot, eventually earning the rank of commander. Frustrated by the refusal of the New Republic's Senate to take the threat of the First Order seriously, he joined the Resistance instead, where he proved to be not only the best pilot in the Resistance but also one of General Organa's most trusted operatives. He retained the title of commander, only this time he commanded an entire wing of pilots instead of just his squadron.

After he was sent to Jakku to meet with a source that had information on the whereabouts of Luke Skywalker, he got involved in a skirmish with stormtroopers and was taken prisoner by Kylo Ren, who interrogated him with the intention of discovering clues to the location of Skywalker himself. Much to his surprise, a stormtrooper who needed a pilot came to his aid, and together they escaped from the Star Destroyer, at which point he proved that he really can fly anything.

Poe headed back to Jakku, to retrieve his astromech droid, BB-8, and the TIE fighter crashed onto the surface of the planet. The stormtrooper (who had no name until Poe nicknamed him Finn) believed he had died in the crash, but in reality he climbed out of the wreckage and made his way back to the Resistance base. Suffering from a concussion, he wandered off without hearing Finn yelling for him, then eventually met up with a scavenger, whom he them protected from an attack by thugs with his hotshot pilot skills. The scavenger took him to an outpost where he was able to contact the Resistance for backup.

After returning to Resistance base, he led the squad of pilots in the battle at Takodana, after which they were able to retrieve the droid before it ended up in the hands of the First Order. Poe helped to plan the attack on the First Order's base, and then was the squadron leader in the air assault. He was the pilot who fired the shots that destroyed the First Order base, at which point Poe and the squadron returned to the Resistance base.

Personality: Poe is, in the words of someone who has seen his skill firsthand, “a hell of a pilot,” and this fact has gone to his head just a bit. He's not egotistical, really, just incredibly confident in his abilities. So much so, in fact, that he's more than a little hotheaded and rash and will often rush into things without first considering how he's going to get out of them again. Hence why he rushed in to defend villagers who had no way of defending themselves and ended up getting himself taken prisoner. Still, once he decides to do something, he does it. He took the lesson learned from his father to heart: once you commit to something, do it all the way or not at all.

He also has a tendency to help those who need it, like when he rushed in to defend villagers who couldn't defend themselves. It's a big part of why he joined the Resistance, too. Not everyone on the planets out there can get involved in the fight against the First Order, and he's got the skills, so he might as well use them. He joined for another reason, too: so that everything his parents had gone through during their fight was worth it. Because he grew up around stories of the Galactic Civil War, he tends to get stars in his eyes when he meets a legend of the war, but soon enough he'll become serious about his duties and get down to business. He's a good strategist and a quick thinker in a fight, able to adapt to a problem that presents itself.

Like the other fighters in the Resistance, he's passionate about and dedicated to the cause, and like any good pilot, he has a lot of patience for the monotony of space travel. “The need to do what's right, and maybe find a little adventure along the way,” as Leia put it, is the combination that makes him such a good fit for the Resistance. Although he will ignore direct orders, he does it only when it's the right thing to do (such as a need to gain intel, etc.) and not just on a whim. He protects his subordinates in any way he can, whether it's during a dogfight or making sure they won't face any consequences for something that he did.

Powers/Abilities/Talents: He's a skilled pilot who also has infantry training. He can perform maintenance on his ship and understand BB-8's droid-speak.

Any special equipment your character is bringing along? This includes weaponry, magic items, etc.: His flight suit and everything associated with it.

Are you bringing your character to [community profile] ten_fwd from another game? If you are, which game?: N/A
If you answered yes above, briefly summarize how they were changed by and what challenges they faced in the climate of their previous game(s): N/A
Why do you want to play this character in Ten Forward, and what do you plan to do with them? The universe of Star Trek (planets, ships, space travel, aliens) is just familiar enough to him to make it less of a shock that he's not in his own universe anymore, but otherwise so very different from what he's used to. I would like him to get to know this new world, new species, and have to deal with a place where he's not the best pilot anymore. Not being part of Starfleet or having any authority (or job to do) will be a challenge for him, and he'll have to figure out something else to do.
